SEARCHING OUT THE PAST
Interested in local history?  Then you should join the local History Society!  This year they've got talks dealing with local natural history, local parish government, memories of scouting in this area, Victorian glassware, the local archive service, and Churches of the Humber.
The Immingham & District History Society was formed in 1978 with the aims of studying and preserving the local history of this area.  They are now about to commence their 24th year of activities.
Formal meetings, with speakers, are held on the first Monday of each month from September to April.  Meetings commence at 7:30p.m in the
Immingham Resource Centre The speakers are experts in their subject.  The talks are usually illustrated with slides, documents and, sometimes, objects.
There are also trips and visits.  These usually link up with topics in the programme and are led by the speakers.
There is a small annual membership fee and an admission charge to the meetings.  Further details can be obtained at the meetings or from the Secretary, Margaret Foulsham on
01469 575400.

YOUNG GOLFERS
Immingham youngsters are getting the chance to learn the joys of golf. Immingham Golf Club Pro, Nick Harding, works with local school children every Saturday morning.
Their ages range from 4-15 years and Nick arranges two classes for them.  The first is open to all, including complete beginners and the younger ones.  The second class is invitation only and is for those who are progressing in the sport.
Nick require some degree of professionalism from the young people.  He says that most of those who come along readily adapt to the requirements of the golfing world.
Nick, who is a PGA Golf Pro, has a Sports Psychology Degree and has worked with children for over 15 years.
Immingham Golf Course is now 27 years old and Nick describes it as a friendly and welcoming club.  New facilities and improvements will soon be seen - including a new Pro Shop.
