ON THE BEAT
If you don't already know me I am Shaun Cook the named officer for the top end of Immingham.  In Patrick Lince's absence covering some issues in his area.  I first came to Immingham in 1992 and enjoyed working with the people here so much that I returned for a second spell in 1996 - they are not going to find its as easy to move me again!
Visiting as an outsider all those years ago I would hear people knock the community.   But I soon learned that these were untruths spread by people who didn't know any better, some hadn't even been here.
The people of Immingham are not afraid to come forward and stand up for what they think is right.  We all find it frustrating when you know what has gone on but you cannot prove it.
I ask that you, the people of Immingham, continue to come forward and those who are thinking about it, do it.
To assist in this matter it has been arranged, with the help of the Community Development Officer, Penny Humphries, to hold a drop in session between 0930-1200 at the Immingham Resource centre every first Wednesday starting on the 2nd October 2002.
Why not pop in for a chat.   You can always leave a message for me on:

BE WARM, BE SAFE
Well, all too soon, our brief summer is drawing to a close. The nights are pulling in, autumn is approaching, and it won't be long before there's a chill in the air!  It's at this time that everyone should start checking those heaters and fires that haven't been used for some time.

  • Gas fires should be cleaned and serviced and checks made to ensure that the flues is clear and not blocked
  • Electric fires should be cleaned and wiring inspected also making sure that the correct fuse is fitted
  • Calor Gas heaters should also be checked and serviced so that they burn correctly and do not have any leaks
  • If you have a coal fire, then have the chimney swept before you start using it again
Finally, for those that have electric blankets that have been packed away in a drawer, remember that they should be tested before use to make sure they are safe.  Contact the Trading Standards Department for information on testing centres.
