NEW HEALTH CENTRE PROPOSALS Immingham is to see all its three GP practices housed in one new building on the site of the old Fire Station. That is, if proposals recently announced by NEL Primary Care Trust are approved. A multi-million pound scheme aims to establish a Primary Care Centre on Pelham Road. According to Immingham GP, Dr. Peter Opie, "This new centre will provide local people with better access to a number services, such as a minor injuries unit, which have not been available before." Dr Peter Melton, another local GP and Chair of the Executive Committee of the Primary Care Trust, said "It will offer far better services than we can currently provide, in better facilities." The Primary Care Centre will also have facilities for district nursing, health visiting in the area and the current Community Clinic on Kennedy Way. Other facilities may include ambulance services, social services and an out-of-hours GP service.
